## Fender tackles the hum problem
Single-coil pickups have defined Fender's sound for decades, but their inherent electrical hum has always been a drawback. Now Fender says it has finally solved this with a new breakthrough system.
## Meet the Silent System
The Silent System is a passive, battery-free system built into the guitar underneath the pickguard. It's designed to work with almost any pickup, including aftermarket replacements, without requiring modifications.
## How it works stays secret
The exact science behind the Silent System remains closely guarded by Fender. The system sits in an arch-shaped cavity under the pickguard with routes to the pickup selector, controls, and pickups themselves.
## Limited edition guitars debut it
The Silent System makes its debut on Limited Edition American Professional Classic Stratocaster and Telecaster models, each priced at $1,599.99 or £1,649. Both feature vintage-inspired pickups and modern C-profile necks.
## Industry-wide pickup innovation surge
Fender's Silent System launch follows Fender Japan's investment in active pickup tech and Gibson's new Alnico 8 humbuckers. Major guitar makers are now competing to advance pickup technology.

> This innovative tech refresh is set to fundamentally change the playing experience.
## Key takeaway

Fender's new Silent System is a battery-free, built-in solution to single-coil hum that doesn't require replacing pickups and works with aftermarket modifications.
