## Fire erupts on Bowery rooftop
A fire broke out on a rooftop deck at 324 Bowery in NoHo around noon on Thursday, sending flames and heavy smoke into the air between Bleecker and East 2nd streets.
## Propane tank likely sparked blaze
Authorities recovered propane tanks from the scene, and restaurant workers believe a propane tank ignited on the wooden rooftop deck, which then spread the flames.

> For what I know, everything started with a propane tank.
## Restaurant workers evacuate quickly
First-floor restaurant workers evacuated immediately after learning about the fire, with one worker describing the chaotic scene as firefighters arrived on the scene.

> It was crazy. I was not expecting that. When I got out, I saw all the firefighters come in here and everything happened so fast.
## Fire controlled within an hour
Firefighters brought the rooftop fire under control in about an hour, preventing it from spreading further through the building.
## Neighboring business suffers water damage
Think Coffee was unaffected, but neighboring business Shifka sustained water damage from firefighting efforts, forcing them to cancel delivery orders.

> We had some orders, DoorDash orders, of course, we cannot make them right now because nobody's inside.
## Key takeaway

A propane tank fire on a rooftop deck forced evacuations and caused water damage to neighboring businesses in Lower Manhattan.
