## Fort Worth opens Barbers Manor
Fort Worth held a grand opening on Wednesday for Barbers Manor, a new affordable housing development in the Stop Six neighborhood replacing the aging Cavile Place public housing project from the 1950s.
## What Barbers Manor includes
The development features town homes and apartments on Edgewood Terrace, plus on-site social services, two playgrounds, a fitness center, a clubhouse, and a business center.
## Mayor celebrates Stop Six investment
Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker said affordable housing projects like this are rare, noting that cities across the country struggle to make them happen.

> There are cities all over the country that would do just about anything for affordable housing projects to happen in their communities.
## Resident thanks Fort Worth
T'Shawna Brown, who lived at Cavile Place and now lives at Barbers Manor, said Fort Worth kept its promise to redevelop the neighborhood.

> I trusted the process. I trusted the promise that Fort Worth had a solution for us.
## Named for community leader
Barbers Manor is named for C. Donald Barbers, a former U.S. Housing and Urban Development regional administrator and longtime Fort Worth community activist.
## Part of larger revitalization
Barbers Manor is part of Fort Worth's Stop Six revitalization plan, which includes an anticipated 354 million dollars in total developments and improvements funded by a 35 million dollar federal grant obtained in 2020.
## Key takeaway

Fort Worth completed a major redevelopment project in Stop Six, replacing 1950s public housing with new affordable homes and amenities.
