## Game of Thrones' Season 5 Choices
HBO's Game of Thrones began to break away from George R.R. Martin's books in Season 4, then went wildly off-book in Season 5.
## Sansa Stark's Marriage to Ramsay Bolton
Sansa Stark married Ramsay Bolton in the show, but in the books she was disguised as Littlefinger's daughter in the Vale.
## Ramsay Bolton's Marriage Plan
Ramsay Bolton married Jeyne Poole, not Arya Stark, in the show, but in the books he married Arya Stark.
## Jaime Lannister's Dorne Journey
Jaime Lann.ister traveled to Dorne in the show, but in the books he stayed in the Riverlands after Cersei's dismissal.
## Sansa's Book vs. Show
In the books, Sansa learned from King's Landing and analyzed Littlefinger's political moves, but the show made her a prison sentence.
## Jaime's Book vs. Show
In the books, Jaime stayed in the Riverlands to avert fighting, but the show had him travel to Dorne without Bronn.
## Sansa's Marriage Impact
Sansa's marriage to Ramsay Bolton made her more shallow and cruel, and broke Littlefinger's plans for her.
## Jaime's Dorne Journey Impact
Jaime's Dorne journey was offensive for flattening Dorne into a joke about promiscuity and spicy food.
## The Show's Changes
The show added nothing to Sansa's and Jaime's storylines, making them gratuitous and unproductive.
## Why the Changes Matter
Sansa's marriage and Jaime's Dorne journey damaged the series' narrative integrity and character development.
## What Happens Next
Game of Thrones continues streaming on HBO Max while A Song of Ice and Fire remains available in print and digital formats.
## Key takeaway

Game of Thrones' Season 5 altered Sansa Stark's marriage to Ramsay Bolton and Jaime Lannister's Dorne journey without adding value to the series.
