## Oldman picks the series
Gary Oldman says HBO's Wizarding World show will please fans more than the Warner Bros. movies he appeared in.

> More satisfying
## He has standing to say it
Oldman played Sirius Black across four Harry Potter films, so he is judging the franchise from inside it.
## The films cut deep
The movies were heavily abridged from J.K. Rowling's books, squeezing long novels into single sittings.
## TV has room
HBO's version is pulling in far more of the source material, with episodes instead of a two-hour runtime.
## Fans get the missing pieces
Subplots and characters that never made the film cut have space to appear on screen this time.
## Where he said it
Oldman made the prediction in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.
## Key takeaway

Runtime is the real advantage: a TV season can carry the book's detail that a two-hour film had to cut.
