## Dart's season ends with knee surgery
Giants QB Jaxson Dart will have surgery Friday to repair a torn meniscus, ending his 2026 season. He also has damage to his MCL and PCL, though his ACL is intact.
## Recovery timeline unclear for playoffs
Dart's recovery is expected to take four to six months, putting him at January to March. The NFL playoffs begin January sixteenth, just under four months from surgery.
## Injury happened in Week 2 against Rams
Dart was hit by multiple defenders while airborne during the first drive of Monday night's game against Los Angeles. His knee bent awkwardly, initially thought to be just an MCL sprain.
## Harbaugh addresses team's emotional toll
Head coach John Harbaugh acknowledged the difficulty of losing Dart, saying there's a mourning process with injuries. He told the team the season continues for them, but it's over for Dart.

> The season is not over, but it is for him.
## Dart's rookie year showed promise
The number twenty-five overall pick started all twelve games as a rookie in 2025. He opened this season strong with a win over Dallas, completing 79.3 percent of passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns.
## Giants turn to Jameis Winston at QB
New York will likely start Jameis Winston going forward. He came in mid-game Monday and completed 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards and an interception, a stark contrast to Dart's performance.
## Key takeaway

Jaxson Dart's season-ending knee injury forces the Giants to turn to Jameis Winston as starter, derailing what looked like a breakout year for the team.
