## Era-Clashing Living Room
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell's Pacific Palisades living room mixes vintage and modern elements for character.
## Traditional Features
The room features a carved white mantel, dark marble fireplace, and traditional wall moldings.
## 1970s Butter-Yellow Chair
A butter-yellow armchair with a relaxed 1970s shape adds unexpected contrast to the room.
## Shag Rug and Plants
Set on a shag rug with trailing plants and casually arranged ceramics, the chair softens formal details.
## Mixing Eras
Goldie and Kurt mix pieces from different eras to keep original features while adding personal style.
## Interior Designer Insight
Alana Marie, founder of Alana Marie Interiors, says homes with collected history feel more alive than showrooms.

> i think we're finally moving away from homes that feel like showrooms. for years, "polished" meant matching, symmetrical, everything brand new, and now that just reads as cold.
## Personalizing Pieces
Alana explains that vintage pieces can be reupholstered or adjusted to fit new surroundings without losing character.

> i always tell clients not to be put off by a great frame with dated upholstery. that's the easiest thing in the world to change!
## Key takeaway

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell combine 1970s furniture with traditional features to create a characterful living room.
