## Apple's ecosystem advantage
iPhones and Macs sync seamlessly: launch iPhone apps from your Mac, respond to texts without picking up your phone, and copy-paste between devices. Android users haven't had this native integration.
## Google launches Googlebook
Google is introducing Googlebooks, a new class of laptops designed to bridge Android phones and desktop computing. The company teased the project in May and shared full details at a New York event last week.
## Five new Googlebooks launch today
HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, and Asus each released a Googlebook model today. Prices range from $899 to $1,299, with preorders open now and store availability on October 4.
## Premium specs and 10-year updates
All Googlebooks feature premium materials, at least 16GB RAM, 45+ TOPS performance, touchscreens, backlit keyboards, haptic trackpads, Dolby Atmos speakers, and 14+ hours of battery life. They'll receive 10 years of software updates.
## The Glowbar signature feature
Every Googlebook has a Glowbar, an LED strip on the exterior that identifies it as a Googlebook. Developers can customize it for their apps, and users can unlock an Easter egg app to change colors and animations themselves.
## Custom keyboard with Gemini key
Googlebooks have a custom keyboard with a dedicated G key for Gemini and a Caps key that doubles as Quick Insert. These shortcuts give quick access to Google's AI assistant.
## Android and Chrome OS merge
Googlebook merges Android's mobile-first operating system with Chrome OS. It's a distinct OS optimized for both x86 and ARM chip architectures, not just Android blown up to desktop size.

> There isn't a laptop that is designed to seamlessly work with your Android phone.
## Three tiers of Android apps
Google rates Play Store apps three ways: Better on the Website, Optimized for Desktop, and Made for Desktop. About 20 apps are optimized or made for desktop so far, including CapCut, Adobe Photoshop, and Notability.
## Gaming with GeForce Now
Googlebooks can access over 20,000 games from the Play Store, with 50 of the top 100 titles optimized for keyboard and trackpad. Google includes one year of Nvidia's GeForce Now game streaming service for AAA titles.
## Magic Pointer AI feature
Wiggle your mouse over anything and Gemini overlays contextual actions. Hover over an event to add it to your calendar, over a photo to identify a dog breed, or over an email to check if it's a phishing attempt.
## Rambler voice dictation
Googlebook includes Rambler, an AI voice dictation engine that transcribes speech while removing filler words and fixing mistakes. You can format text in specific tones, add bullets or emoji, and mix languages.
## Seamless Android phone integration
When you set up a Googlebook with your Android phone, Wi-Fi networks, passwords, settings, messages, contacts, and photos sync automatically. The Continue On feature hands off tasks between devices, and app-casting streams phone-only apps to your desktop.
## Key takeaway

Googlebooks are Google's answer to Apple's iPhone-Mac ecosystem, offering Android users the same kind of hardware integration that iPhone owners have long enjoyed.
