## My unused Kindle
I wanted to create a custom app for my Kindle controlled by an AI agent on my MacBook.
## Project KindleCTL
We built a photo slideshow app that cycles through ten photos, showing each for four minutes.
## GPT-5.6 Sol attempt
GPT-5.6 Sol wrote code to connect to the Kindle but couldn't store data due to filesystem errors.
## Fable 5.1 and Opus 5.5 blocked
Anthropic's cybersecurity safeguards blocked Fable 5.1 and Opus 5.5 after two prompts each.
## GPT-6 Astra jailbreak
GPT-6 Astra with high reasoning effort successfully jailbroke the Kindle using existing open-source tools.
## Feedback loop created
The agent set up a persistent diagnostic connection to collect errors and test fixes without screenshots.
## Slideshow app works
The slideshow cycles through ten photos with clean transitions and resumes when the Kindle wakes.
## Future improvements
We plan to add controls for changing slideshow timing directly on the Kindle and phone integration.
## Key takeaway

Niraj Rajgor used GPT-6 Astra to jailbreak his Kindle and install a photo slideshow app that cycles through images without traces.
