## Scottish climber repeats Megatron
Hamish McArthur made the second ascent of Megatron V17 in Colorado's Eldorado Canyon in April 2025, completing the climb in just five sessions.
## Megatron is extremely rare
Only three climbers have ever sent Megatron: Shawn Raboutou (first ascent in 2022), McArthur (April 2025), and Zach Galla (April 2026). It remains one of the world's hardest boulder problems.
## Built on an existing classic
Megatron is a harder, extended version of Daniel Woods' Tron V14, established in 2017. It was the second V17 ever established in the United States.
## Drew Ruana's brutal breakdown
American climber Drew Ruana spent over 100 sessions on Megatron without sending it. He described the problem as a V15/16 crux followed by V13/14 climbing, then brutal undercling thrutches at the end.

> The V14 stand is guarding the top, you've already done a hard boulder into a nasty series undercling thrutches with bad feet.
## McArthur's elite resume
McArthur has two V17 ascents: Megatron and No One Mourns the Wicked in Colorado. He's also topped at least two V16s and established Flower of Sulphur V16 in Squamish, which remains unrepeated.
## Key takeaway

Megatron V17 remains one of the world's rarest boulder problems, with only three confirmed ascents in four years.
