## HBO's Lanterns Finale
HBO's Lanterns season finale reveals John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) now wields a yellow-impurity Lantern after turning down the Guardians' ring.

> In brightest day, in darkest night, i embrace my fear, i'll do what's right. i choose this ring, i choose this fight, in service to this lantern's light.
## Yellow Impurity Explained
The yellow impurity, Parallax, a cosmic embodiment of fear, caused Hal Jordan to murder other Green Lanterns in DC Comics.

> The lantern corp thinks that fear makes you weak. they couldn't be more wrong. if harnessed correctly, fear can be the most powerful force in the universe. fear is just evolutionary intelligence.
## Sinestro's New Lantern
Sinestro forged a new Lantern on Antaan's planet using water and air contaminated by the Manhunter Zoe.

> You don't know what that lantern might do.
## John's Unique Oath
John uses a custom oath to harness fear, aligning with Sinestro's disciples but rejecting the Guardians' authority.

> In brightest day, in darkest night, i embrace my fear, i'll do what's right. i choose this ring, i choose this fight, in service to this lantern's light.
## Sinestro Corps Connection
John's oath mirrors Sinestro's disciples' words, hinting at Parallax's role in the DC Universe.

> In blackest day, in brightest night, beware your fears made into light. let those who try to stop what's right burn like his power, sinestro's might!
## Tom King's Confirmation
Lanterns co-showrunner Tom King states John is not 100% a Green Lantern but has a unique, unsanctioned Lantern with fear.

> John is not 100% a green lantern anymore. he has a lantern that has a bit of yellow in it. he has a bit of fear in it. it's an unsanctioned lantern.
## What's Next for John
John could become the first Yellow Lantern if he succumbs to Parallax's influence, threatening the DC Universe.

> He could wind up succumbing to parallax's influence, especially since lanterns' writers seem to be fusing john with another classic green lantern.
## Key takeaway

John Stewart's new Lantern, infused with fear, makes him an unsanctioned Green Lantern with a unique oath, potentially becoming the first Yellow Lantern.
