## Twenty-five years on
America marked the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with ceremonies and moments of silence for the 2,977 people killed.

> Hollywood is pausing to remember.
## Wahlberg raises a flag
Mark Wahlberg posted a video of an American flag climbing a flagpole in the wind, with a caption that admitted words were not enough.

> This anniversary is always a gut punch of emotions…words just can't say it all.
## Stranded in Tokyo
Martha Stewart watched the towers fall on live television from Japan, unable to reach anyone in the United States for hours to learn who had survived.

> We stayed glued to the television for news and we tried to figure out how we could get back to the United States.
## The temple coincidence
A friend sent Stewart's group to a temple in Miho for peace. It was designed by Minoru Yamasaki, the same architect who built the World Trade Center.

> As we entered the deserted temple the organ played America the Beautiful for us.
## A cross made of steel
Dean Cain shared a selfie on X with a small cross on the shelf behind his desk, forged from steel recovered from the fallen towers.

> Never Forget. The cross behind my desk is made from steel from the fallen towers.
## Jackman and Parker remember New York
Hugh Jackman posted a black-and-white montage of Ground Zero and asked followers to show up for one another. Sarah Jessica Parker shared the tribute beam rising behind One World Trade Center.

> September 11th, 2026, 25 years. We never forget. I ❤️ NY. Forever. And ever.
## Buckingham Palace joins in
The royal family marked a commemorative Changing of the Guard with both national anthems, Hymn to the Fallen and Amazing Grace.

## Music in Lower Manhattan
Cyndi Lauper joins Lainey Wilson and John Ondrasik for the Tribute in Light broadcast, honoring the dead along with survivors, families and first responders.
## Key takeaway

Twenty-five years on, remembrance is still mostly personal: where you were, what you saw, who you could not reach.
