## Meta's Muse is collecting your data
Meta's new Muse AI agent is popular, but by default it uses your questions and interactions to train the company's AI models as you use the service.
## Three steps to opt out
To stop Meta training on your data, click the sidebar button, go to Settings, select Data Controls, and toggle off Help improve our AI models.
## Delete your Muse history
You can permanently delete all Muse information including chat history, files and active tasks by clicking Reset Muse on the same screen as the toggle.

## Meta scrubs personal details
Even with training enabled, Meta says it removes personally identifiable information like names, email addresses, phone numbers and Social Security Numbers before using data to train models.
## Your Muse activity affects ads
Meta does not share Muse conversations with ad systems, but when Muse browses the internet or makes purchases, websites may use that activity to show you ads on Instagram or Facebook.

## EU users get stronger protections
Muse's privacy controls contrast with Instagram and Facebook, where Meta uses public content from adult US users for training. Only EU users have an actual opt-out feature for those platforms.
## Key takeaway

Meta's Muse AI agent offers users an opt-out toggle to prevent their data being used to train the company's AI models, though the default setting allows training.
