## Heritage month opens
Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month begins this week, and Tiempo marks it by looking at what Latino Americans have built into US history and culture.
## 100 films in the city
The New York City Latino Film Festival returns with more than 100 films, screenings and panel discussions. Two directors join the show to talk about their work.
## Operation Rotten Apple
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin says the New York City crackdown led to more than 2,000 arrests in August alone.
## Who was actually arrested
Federal officials described the detainees as rapists, murderers and child predators. State officials and community advocates dispute that characterization.

## Detained after drop-off
In Connecticut, ICE raids landed on the first day of school. Several people were picked up minutes after leaving their children at the gates.
## Where agents showed up
Unmarked cars, masks, pepper spray and questionable tech, at grocery stores, day cares, bus stops and Danbury's Kennedy Park. One raid hit outside attorney George Fernandes' office.
## Key takeaway

The same week Latino heritage gets celebrated, families in Danbury are afraid to do the school run.
