## IGN cuts staff across departments
Gaming publisher IGN laid off hosts, producers, editors and other staff. The IGN Creators Guild said it was blindsided by the cuts.

> Today was an awful day at IGN. We were blindsided by the layoff of four union members and many more people across the organization
## Union blasts successive layoffs
The union questioned how many cuts would occur before the company becomes unrecognizable. Core parts of IGN's operation continue to be stripped away.

> How many layoffs will occur before we no longer recognize the company we work for and the content that we make?
## Brian Altano loses job after 15 years
Altano was a video host, producer and podcaster at IGN since 2009. He was known for hosting the PlayStation podcast Beyond.
## Seth Macy cut after 8 years
Macy served as Senior Social Commerce Producer and video host. He confirmed his departure on LinkedIn after being let go.
## Total number of cuts unclear
Senior manager Bo Moore also lost his job. The company had already made cuts earlier this year affecting a small number of employees.
## Part of broader media bloodbath
McClatchy laid off over 90 journalists nationwide last week. Some California newsrooms lost 40% of their staff, including The Modesto Bee and Fresno Bee.
## Key takeaway

Media layoffs continue to hit gaming and entertainment companies, with IGN losing longtime hosts and producers despite union protests.
