## India now globally competitive
Electronics minister Ashwini Vaishnaw says India's semiconductor products meet world standards for quality and cost. Five chip packaging plants are already operational and exporting.

> We are already globally competitive.
## Five plants now producing
Micron Technology, Kaynes Semicon, and CG Semi began commercial production in 2024. These assembly, testing, marking and packaging units are meeting export standards.
## 100,000 new jobs coming
The government expects the growing semiconductor ecosystem will create over 100,000 new jobs in the industry in the near future.
## 11 to 12 billion in interest
Companies have shown investment interest of 11 to 12 billion dollars for ISM 2.0, the second phase of India's semiconductor mission announced just weeks ago.
## Two new facilities launched
Prime Minister Modi launched commercial production at Suchi Semicon's 868 crore facility near Surat and CDIL's expanded facility in Mohali.
## 23 MoUs signed at summit
The Semicon India Summit 2026 saw 23 memorandums of understanding signed by participating companies, with over 300 foreign firms from 30 countries attending.
## Japan leads foreign interest
Japan and Singapore have the largest contingents at the summit. Sixty-eight Japanese companies are finalizing manufacturing, research plans and partnerships in India.
## Government addressing logistics
Vaishnaw said the government will work with industry on customs, transportation and permissions issues. Green corridors for critical equipment movement are being considered.
## Key takeaway
