## Apple claims record battery gains
Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro Max has the largest battery life increase ever. We put this claim to the test in our lab to see if it holds up.
## Pro Max battery outperforms Pro
The iPhone 18 Pro Max showed noticeably longer battery life than the standard iPhone 18 Pro in our testing, with the larger model lasting several hours longer on a single charge.
## Real gains depend on your usage
Battery improvements vary based on how you use your phone. Heavy users see bigger gains than light users, so your actual experience may differ from our lab results.
## Upgrade path matters most
If you're coming from an older iPhone, the battery improvement feels dramatic. Upgrading from a recent model shows more modest gains in real-world use.
## Lab results vs real world
Our controlled lab tests show the maximum potential battery life. Your actual results will be lower depending on screen brightness, apps, and connectivity settings.
## Key takeaway

Apple's iPhone 18 Pro Max delivers significant battery gains, but the real-world improvements depend on your usage patterns and which model you're upgrading from.
