## A minister goes after filmmakers
Israel's Culture Minister said he will work to revoke the citizenship of Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor over their documentary NAZA.
## The word he used was treason
Writing on X, Zohar called the film "vile" and said it amounts to treason. That is the charge behind the citizenship threat.

> constitutes treason
## Venice gave it a prize
NAZA won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday, days before the minister's post.
## Twenty-four officers on camera
The film features testimony from 24 Israeli military officers describing the systems and protocols they say Israel uses to target and kill civilians in Gaza.
## The title is army shorthand
NAZA comes from an acronym the Israeli military uses for civilian casualties. The filmmakers took the internal term and made it the name.
## Oscar winners, now on notice
Abraham and Szor already hold Oscars. The response to their new film is not a review but a proposal to take away where they belong.
## Key takeaway

An Israeli cabinet minister is trying to strip two Oscar-winning filmmakers of citizenship over a documentary, turning a film award into a loyalty test.
