## A prediction lands for MSU
On Tuesday, On3's Jamie Shaw put in a prediction that five-star point guard Antonio Pemberton will commit to Michigan State.
## Who Pemberton is
He sits 23rd overall in the 2027 class on the 247Sports Composite and fifth among point guards. The interest from high-major programs matches that billing.
## The visit that moved things
Pemberton just wrapped an official visit to East Lansing during MSU's annual Grind Week, when program legends and alumni come back to campus.
## An empty 2027 board
Michigan State has no 2027 commitments yet, and the class figures to stay small. No scholarship player on this year's roster is out of eligibility under the NCAA's 5-in-5 rules.
## Why the class stays small
Running back the identical roster two years straight is unlikely, but the built-in openings are thin. That makes each 2027 spot expensive.
## The Jeremy Fears clock
Fears is expected to chase the NBA after this season, closer to leaving last offseason than most realized. Taking a 2027 point guard signals MSU sees that exit coming.
## Far from a done deal
Kansas, Tennessee, Ohio State, Creighton and UCLA are all in, along with other high-major programs. A prediction is a signal, not a signature.

> this recruitment is hardly a done deal
## A top-seven Izzo get
Pemberton carries a 0.9918 Composite rating. He would rank seventh among all Michigan State commitments in the 247Sports era and first among point guards.
## Pairing with Carlos Medlock Jr.
If Fears goes, Pemberton would likely split point guard duties with Medlock. Both are creative scorers who can get buckets at all three levels.
## The scouting read
247Sports' Adam Finkelstein praises his pull-up game from mid-range and three, soft touch at the rim, and a tight handle that strings moves together.

> Pemberton is a tough shot-taker and maker
## Key takeaway

Landing Antonio Pemberton would give Izzo his highest-ranked point guard of the 247Sports era and secure the backcourt after Jeremy Fears Jr. leaves.
