## John Mayer's Silver Sky vision
John Mayer sees the Silver Sky as an elevated electric guitar built for the modern age, shunning old-school finishes for sleeker stylistic choices inspired by consumer tech.
## DIY Silver Sky mods exist
Zach Myers created a relic'd pink model and Neal Schon added a Floyd Rose to his Silver Sky, among other fan modifications.
## Mayer approves mods
John Mayer says, 'I love it. Hack it all you want. I think it's important, like, you're supposed to. If you want to, you have my blessing to do whatever comes to mind with it.'

## Mayer explains sunburst stance
Mayer says the sunburst 'thing' wasn't part of his vision for the Silver Sky, comparing it to a brown M&M that checks the contract.

> I use the sunburst as the brown M&M. The brown M&M checks the contract. No sunburst reinforces the contract with what the mission statement of the guitar is.
## Mayer's creative approval
Mayer encourages players to get creative with their Silver Sky guitars, stating that colors like Mojave Brown come from moments when he saw them and knew he had to use them.

> Mojave Brown comes from a thing, that when I saw it, I went, 'I've got to use that color.'
