## James rejects Premier League offers
The Wales midfielder turned down multiple top-flight moves to join Wolverhampton on loan from Rennes, prioritizing a promotion push over immediate Premier League football.

> There were a lot of opportunities. I had a lot of offers on the table. I just didn't think it was right.
## Leicester success, but relegation hurt
James was named Leicester's player of the year after scoring 11 goals in 34 appearances last season, but the club was relegated to League One despite his strong form.

> Leicester is a club that I love dearly, they gave me the most confidence to go out and perform.
## Wrexham interest ended last year
James clarified that Wrexham's interest in signing him was from summer 2025, not the recent transfer window. He chose Leicester instead and has no regrets about that decision.

> That ship sailed I think. It was on last year. I'm glad I went to Leicester.
## Wolves loan includes promotion goal
Wolverhampton have an option to buy James when his loan ends next summer. He says reaching the Premier League with Wolves is his target and he believes he's good enough for top-flight football.

> It's a big club, a club that's looking to get promoted and the place I want to be is the Premier League.
## Limited action so far at Wolves
James has made six league appearances for Wolves, all from the bench, with one goal. His only starts have come in the EFL Cup as he settles into the Championship club.
## Portugal test in Nations League
James is expected to start for Wales in their Nations League opener against Portugal on Thursday, a chance to show his form at international level while competing for club minutes.
## Key takeaway

James chose a Championship promotion push over immediate Premier League moves because he wants to win games, not just play in the top flight.
