## Homme's party guitar rule
Josh Homme thinks anyone who picks up a guitar at a party and starts playing is embarrassing. He's held this view for years and isn't shy about it.

> I've always had this thing where anyone who picks up a guitar and starts playing at a party, I think, 'You're fucking embarrassing, dude.'
## Harry Dean Stanton's party moment
The actor and national treasure once grabbed a guitar at a party where Homme was present with his young son Wolfie. Stanton started singing in Spanish.
## The party goes silent
Everyone at the party stopped and gathered around Stanton as he performed. Homme's seven-year-old son Wolfie was so uncomfortable he wanted to leave immediately.

> And my son goes, 'Jesus, let's get out of here!'
## Homme's verdict on Stanton
Despite respecting Harry Dean Stanton and acknowledging the performance sounded good, Homme found the whole thing cheesy and cringe-worthy. It's not personal, just his honest take.

> Yeah, I love Harry Dean Stanton, and yeah, it sounded great, but I just was like, 'This is cheesy right now.'
## Celebrity circles aren't exempt
Homme notes that party guitar playing happens just as often in celebrity circles as it does at regular gatherings. Fame doesn't excuse the behavior in his view.
## Key takeaway

Josh Homme finds casual party guitar playing cringe-worthy and considers it tacky regardless of who's doing it.
