## Kelly Clarkson's shopping complaint
Kelly Clarkson posted on X about feeling judged at a Brooklyn store after a $15,000 singing bird purchase.

> Just drove all the way to Brooklyn to check out this store I thought looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy and literally was looked at as if I couldn't afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me
## Art of Play's response
Art of Play said Molly, a singing bird used in magic shows, is permanently attached to the wall and not for sale.

> Molly is permanently attached to the wall and isn't for sale
## Clarkson's counterclaim
Clarkson alleged the employee treated her condescendingly and lied about the bird's price being $15,000.

> So you're not only rude, you're also a liar
## Shop's additional context
Art of Play mentioned a nearly identical singing bird by Seattle artist Bliss Kolb could be purchased for $15,000.

> He told us he would be willing to part with Molly's twin for $15,000
## Clarkson's pushback
Clarkson defended small businesses but said treating customers poorly isn't acceptable regardless of business size.

> I love small businesses and know they are important, and I always support them, but you don't get a free pass to treat people less than in your store just because you are a small business
## Online reactions
Commenters debated whether Clarkson's criticism was justified and if Art of Play should have apologized for the incident.

> Why not say, 'We can put you in touch with the maker?'
## What happened next
Art of Play offered a $2,000 singing bird from a German clockmaker but Clarkson did not see it.

> It costs about $2,000
