## The main building is closed
Fox News Digital confirmed Tuesday that the Kennedy Center board voted to immediately shut the main building of the performing arts center in Washington, D.C.
## Safety and money drove it
The board pointed to two reasons for the sudden shutdown: concerns about the building's safety and concerns about funding.
## Decided in a special meeting
Two additional sources told Fox News the closure was approved during a special meeting of the board. A public statement is expected.
## Hours after a court loss
The vote landed the same day a federal judge again blocked the Kennedy Center from putting President Donald Trump's name on the building and plaza.
## Congress holds the key
Judge Christopher Cooper ruled the Center cannot install the proposed Trump memorials without approval from Congress.

## No end date yet
It is not clear how long the closure will last, or whether the court ruling changes anything about it. Fox News calls this a developing story.
## Key takeaway

The Kennedy Center's main building is closed indefinitely, with safety and money cited and a Trump naming fight running alongside it.
