## The Blade film that finally happened
Bassam Tariq and Mahershala Ali left Marvel's 'Blade' without a movie. 'Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother' is the one they got to make instead.

## Premiered Saturday at TIFF
The world premiere landed Saturday night at the Toronto International Film Festival, with a theatrical release set for Sept. 25.
## A hitman who prays
Ali plays Latif, a devout Muslim contract killer. The faith is not set dressing, it sits right next to the killing.
## His wife dies, he runs
Latif's wife dies suddenly and he goes on the run with all three children: a teenage daughter, a 10-year-old son and a newborn.
## The chase is for breast milk
The newborn needs feeding, so the manhunt doubles as a scramble for breast milk. That is the engine of the plot, not a gag.

## Two sets of hunters
Latif crosses his own boss and Hwan, an unrecognizable John Cho, who leads a gun-toting anti-pornography Christian cult. Adia, as the daughter, is the breakout.

## Key takeaway

The 'Blade' movie Ali and Tariq lost at Marvel came back as something stranger and entirely their own.
