## Mariners Want Experienced Manager
Seattle's new manager search focuses on candidates with major league experience and past failures.
## Jon Heyman Names Three Candidates
Jon Heyman of the New York Post identified Rocco Baldelli, Brandon Hyde, and David Ross as possible candidates for Seattle’s opening.
## All Three Have Faced Fire
All three have managed in the majors, won a division, and been fired.
## Experience Means Scar Tissue
Hiring an experienced manager means hiring someone with some scar tissue to learn from past failures.
## Joe Espada Already in Discussion
Seattle has received permission to meet with Houston Astros manager Joe Espada, who has seen Seattle’s strengths and weaknesses.
## Baldelli's Strong Resume
Baldelli has the strongest overall resume with 527-505 record across seven seasons, three postseason appearances, and AL Manager of the Year in 2019.
## Baldelli's Challenges in Seattle
Baldelli would need to explain where he challenged Minnesota’s process and how he would address Seattle’s defensive issues.
## Hyde's Rebuilding Experience
Hyde managed the Baltimore Orioles through consecutive 100-loss seasons before leading them to 101 wins and the AL East in 2023.
## Hyde's Postseason Struggles
The Orioles went winless across five postseason games during Hyde’s tenure, raising skepticism about his playoff readiness.
## Ross's Catcher Background
Ross has 15 seasons as a major-league catcher and won World Series championships with Boston in 2013 and Chicago in 2016.
## Ross's Mixed Results
Ross finished 262-284, won the NL Central in 2020, and never returned to the playoffs after Chicago faded in 2023.
## Experience Produces Questions
Experience should produce better questions than an automatic favorite for Seattle’s manager search.
## Key takeaway

Seattle Mariners consider Rocco Baldelli, Brandon Hyde, and David Ross as experienced candidates after previous managerial failures.
