## Monster hasn't been renewed yet
Netflix has not officially greenlit season 5, though the Lizzie Borden season just dropped. The show's creators work on their own timeline.
## Showrunner has multiple suspects in mind
Ian Brennan told People the team has discussed BTK, Ted Bundy, the Green River Killer, and Luigi Mangione as potential subjects for future seasons.

> God, there's so many.
## Most potential subjects are men
The discussed options are all male killers, raising questions about whether the show should explore more female serial killers like Aileen Wuornos.
## Not every killer makes good TV
Brennan explained that choosing a subject is tricky because most murderers simply aren't interesting enough to dramatize, even though their crimes are horrific.

> Most murderers just aren't that interesting.
## Season 5 could arrive in fall 2027
Previous seasons premiered in September or October. With season 1 in 2022, season 2 in 2024, season 3 in 2025, and season 4 in 2026, season 5 would likely drop in September 2027.
## Key takeaway

Monster season 5 hasn't been officially greenlit, though if it follows the show's pattern of September or October releases, it could arrive in fall 2027.
