## MrBeast builds Ghana village
YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson spent $10 million constructing Abna Dakwa, a complete settlement with houses, school, marketplace, farm, and well to combat child labor in Ghana.

> It's funny when people say I only help people for views because it's literally the opposite lol.
## Eight months of construction
The project took eight months to complete and included infrastructure improvements like drainage systems to prevent flooding in the existing settlement.
## Philanthropy videos underperform
Donaldson acknowledged his audience engages less with charitable content than his dramatic game-based videos, but said he will keep making them regardless.

> It prob won't perform that well, but it's something I care a lot about.
## Young audience, older philanthropists
MrBeast's core viewers are ages 11 to 24, while the average U.S. philanthropist is 64, creating a mismatch between his audience and traditional giving.
## School meals for five years
The village school will provide free meals to students for five years to keep children and families in education rather than illegal labor.
## Broader Beast Philanthropy goals
His nonprofit Beast Philanthropy targets eradicating child labor in Ghana, delivering 48 million meals to food-insecure people, and planting 25 million trees.
## Key takeaway

MrBeast is committing to large-scale philanthropy even though his data shows charitable content gets fewer views than his entertainment videos.
