## A hint from the stage
At My Chemical Romance's Saturday show in San Antonio, Gerard Way told fans the band plans to record a new album. It would be their first LP in more than 16 years.
## Twenty years of Black Parade
The band has spent the past year touring behind the 20th anniversary of 2006's The Black Parade, the record that made them arena-sized.
## Then they stopped
One more album followed, 2010's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, before the group broke up for half a decade in the mid-2010s.
## Back, but barely new
MCR reunited in 2019 for a run of tours, but in all that time they have put out exactly one new song: 2022's "The Foundations of Decay."
## Life got in the way
Way told the Alamodome crowd that the band loved playing their one new song and always meant to make more, but things kept intervening.

> We should probably make more songs. And then you know, stuff happens, life happens.
## The fans are the reason
Way framed the record as something owed to the people who stuck around through the breakup and the long silence.

> You guys, honestly, kept us alive for so long that you guys deserve another record.
## Key takeaway

MCR has no release date and no studio news, just Gerard Way saying out loud that the band wants to make another record.
