## Perseverance rover drives 45.2km on Mars
NASA says Perseverance has driven 45.2km on Mars, breaking the off-planet distance record set by Opportunity.
## Exploring Jezero Crater
The rover focuses on Jezero Crater, a region in Mars' northern hemisphere believed to have held water billions of years ago.
## Self-driving capability
Perseverance uses AutoNav to drive 90% autonomously with no human intervention.
## Potential biosignature discovery
NASA found a possible biosignature in reddish rock 3.2 to 3.8 billion years old in a river channel.
## Systems may operate into 2030s
NASA's project manager says Perseverance's systems could work well into the 2030s.
## Mission extension to 2028
NASA recently approved an extension to explore Jezero Crater rim until late 2028.
## Key takeaway

NASA's Perseverance rover has driven 45.2km on Mars, exceeding Opportunity's record and its systems may operate into the 2030s.
