## Pole at the Madring
Lando Norris put the McLaren on pole for the Spanish Grand Prix at Madrid's brand new Madring circuit, ahead of championship leader Kimi Antonelli.
## Eleven thousandths
The margin over Antonelli's Mercedes was 0.011s. Max Verstappen took third, 0.140s off Norris in the same session.
## Checo starts 19th
Sergio Pérez qualified 19th, near the back of the grid and facing a long Sunday on a track with no racing history to draw on.
## Norris in shock
He called it one of the best laps of his career and said he surprised himself by ending up first.

> Estoy en shock, me sorprende un poco estar primero. Ha sido una de las mejores vueltas que he hecho en mi carrera
## Three poles in four
This is Norris's third pole in the last four races, a run that says the McLaren and the driver are clicking at the right moment.

> La adrenalina estaba por las nubes en la última vuelta, tienes que relajarte y dejar que todo fluya
## How the top ten fell
Hamilton lines up alongside Verstappen on row two, then Leclerc, Russell, Piastri and Lawson. Colapinto and rookie Lindblad close out the top ten.
## Key takeaway

Norris is on a pole streak, three in four races, and he took this one on a circuit nobody had raced before.
