## A record warm wake-up
DFW Airport sat at 82 degrees early Sunday, close to the record-high minimum of 78 set in 2013. Normal lows for mid-September are around 70.
## The whole state is muggy
Lubbock started at 81, San Antonio at 80, Corpus Christi at 82 and Brownsville at 85. Dew points ran from the 60s out west to 80 on the coast.
## Feels like 108
Heat advisories run until 8 p.m. Sunday for North Texas and much of the eastern half of the state. The forecast high of 101 will feel like 105 to 108.

> heat indices up to 108 degrees
## Wind that offers no relief
A tight pressure gradient brings south-southwest winds at 10 to 20 mph early in the week. Midweek lows barely dip under 80 before highs climb back to 100.

> creating more of a "blow dryer" effect rather than relief
## Fall is not coming fast
Autumn officially starts September 22, but the last five first days of fall hit 95 last year and 101 in 2023. Only 2021 was mild, at 83.
## Nothing brewing in the tropics
The National Hurricane Center is watching one Atlantic disturbance with a 20% chance of developing in seven days. No threat to Texas, and no rain either.
## Key takeaway

This heatwave is locked in for at least 72 hours, so plan for heat indices above 105 every afternoon this week.
