## Two new AI agents that work alone
Meta released Muse on September 8, followed by OpenAI's Dot three weeks later. Both can continue working after you leave, run their own cloud computers and connect to outside services.
## What each agent can do
Muse can go shopping, complete forms, make travel plans, send emails and monitor prices. Dot can manage ongoing research, work across connected applications and perform recurring tasks.
## How they work differently
Muse runs on a dedicated Secure VM with its own browser and works via apps, web or WhatsApp.Dot lives within ChatGPT, powered by GPT-six Astra, and users can grant it access to their local computer.
## Both agents still need supervision
Meta states that Muse asks for permission before taking sensitive actions like sending an email or making a purchase. Amazon has already blocked Muse from shopping on its site.
## Price and privacy differ sharply
Muse costs twenty dollars or one hundred dollars per month. Dot's cheapest option is Pro one hundred at one hundred dollars per month. Meta says conversations aren't shared with advertising systems.
## Availability remains limited
Dot is rolling out to eligible Pro users outside the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the UK. Muse is currently available in the US and Canada.
## Key takeaway

Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dot are autonomous AI agents that can work unsupervised, but Dot costs significantly more and both require careful permission management.
