## Alonso returns to haunt the Mets
Pete Alonso, who left the Mets in free agency last year, hit his 300th career home run against New York in the ninth inning on Tuesday, tying the game for the Baltimore Orioles.
## Mets fans give him a curtain call
Mets fans cheered Alonso and gave him a curtain call, showing their frustration with the front office for letting him walk in free agency.

> I appreciate all the support for all the years I've been here, all the life I've lived here.
## Pitcher Sean Manaea takes issue
Orioles pitcher Sean Manaea criticized the curtain call, saying he'd never seen fans react that way to an opposing player and noting that Alonso is no longer with the Mets.

> Pete's not here. He's just not here. So, I know everybody loves him. He's the man. But, yeah, he's not here.
## Alonso's decision to join Baltimore
Alonso said last September he considered re-signing with the Mets but received an offer from the Orioles he couldn't refuse.
## Orioles win, Mets fall further
Baltimore won the game 7-5, improving to 74-78 while dropping the Mets to 69-82. New York trails the Washington Nationals by 2.5 games for fourth place in the National League East.
## Historic milestone for Alonso
Alonso became the first player in MLB history to hit his 300th home run against a team he played 1,000 or more games for.
## Key takeaway

Pete Alonso hit a game-tying home run against the Mets in his first series back, and the fans' curtain call for the former star angered Baltimore's pitcher.
