## Purina launches AI cat feeder
Petivity, owned by Purina, released a smart feeder with cameras and facial recognition to track individual cats' eating habits. It can monitor up to five cats at once.
## Perfect for multi-cat households
The feeder solves a real problem: when multiple cats need different foods, especially if one requires a special diet for medical reasons. It alerts owners if the wrong cat eats the wrong food.
## Tracks eating patterns for health
The feeder monitors portion sizes, eating frequency, and feeding patterns to detect subtle behavior shifts. This data helps vets spot health issues during checkups.

## Standard smart feeder features
Beyond AI tracking, it's a normal smart feeder: remote kibble dispensing, custom schedules, video calls with your cat, and low kibble alerts. Most parts are dishwasher-safe.
## Trained on thousands of cats
Petivity trained its AI on 21,000 real feeding sessions, 1,400 hours of video, and over 15,000 cat photos. Testing showed 99.5 percent of cats were happy eating from it.

## Costs $150, no subscription needed
The Petivity Smart Feeder for Cats is available now at $150 with no subscription required for AI tracking. The main limitation: it only handles dry kibble, not wet food.
## Key takeaway

Smart pet feeders can now identify individual cats and alert owners to unusual eating patterns, helping catch health issues early.
