## New Album Release
Bruce Soord's Pineapple Thief releases 16th studio album Far and Wide on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026.

> We always have this thing where it's like, how do we get that live energy and that vibe in the studio?
## Live Energy Philosophy
Soord prioritizes live performance energy over studio trickery for the new album.

> Let's only do what in the studio, do what we can take onto the stage so we don't have to have any trickery in order to perform it live.
## Band Philosophy
Soord recalls Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd as inspirations for minimalistic band setups.

> It was just the guitar, the vocals, drums and keys, that's all they needed.
## Album Philosophy
The album focuses on simplicity with space for each instrument without modern production layers.

> The keys and the bass and the guitars all had space. So we all really had to push ourselves as well.
## Album Release Timeline
The Pineapple Thief started in 1999 with 500 copies sold on first release.

> The first record sold 500 copies and then the second one did 1,000...between 1999 and 2010, it was very, very slow sort of upward trajectory.
## Band Growth
The band grew from small European tours to international recognition after 2016.

> In 2016, we met Gavin Harrison, the drummer, and we did this record called Your Wilderness and that kind of broke through.
## Album Impact
Soord feels the album meets the band's goal of live performance energy without studio trickery.

> I do [feel like we did what we set out to do]. I mean, you always look back on what you create with a very, very critical eye.
## Key takeaway

Bruce Soord's Pineapple Thief releases 16th studio album Far and Wide on Oct 9, 2026, prioritizing live performance energy over studio trickery.
