## Polish skier returns to Himalaya
Andrzej Bargiel is heading to Nepal to climb and ski Dhaulagiri, the world's seventh highest mountain at 8,125 metres. The expedition comes months after he completed a continuous ski descent of Pakistan's Nanga Parbat without supplemental oxygen.
## Second 8,000-metre peak this year
If successful on Dhaulagiri, Bargiel would climb and ski his second 8,000-metre peak of the year, adding to his growing record of high-altitude ski descents.
## Team assembled for expedition
Bargiel will be joined by climber Kuba Poburka and a film team including cameramen Bartek Pawlikowski and Pasang Rinzee Sherpa, plus drone operator Maciej Sulima.
## Weather poses immediate threat
Heavy snowfall and strong winds are increasing avalanche risk on Dhaulagiri, forcing climbers to wait for safer conditions before attempting the ascent.
## Continuing the Hic Sunt Leones project
Dhaulagiri would be added to Bargiel's long-running Hic Sunt Leones project, which has already included ski descents of Everest, K2, Nanga Parbat, and five other 8,000-metre peaks.
## Not a first descent claim
Dhaulagiri has already been completely skied without supplemental oxygen by Polish mountaineer Bartek Ziemski, so Bargiel's challenge is about adding the peak to his record rather than claiming a first descent.
## Key takeaway

Bargiel is attempting to add Dhaulagiri to his collection of 8,000-metre ski descents, pushing the boundaries of high-altitude ski mountaineering.
