## A third annual night
The Property Masters Guild handed out its MacGuffin Awards on Saturday, honoring the people who source, build and place every object on screen.
## Three big winners
"One Battle After Another," "Frankenstein" and "Avatar: Fire and Ash" were among the films recognized for standout props.
## Why the guild exists
The PMG's stated job is raising awareness of the property master craft and the weight design carries on a production.
## Props drive the story
Co-chairs Corvino Elliott and Lauren Shell argued that property masters create character and build the worlds a story plays out in.

> Property masters create character, build the worlds in which our stories play out and oftentimes our props drive the narrative itself
## A message to the industry
The co-chairs framed the wins as a reminder to Hollywood that the property department's voice matters.

> The work you have done serves to remind the industry of just how much our voice matters
## Craft awards are a claim
A guild giving itself a trophy show is a bid for recognition in a business where below-the-line work rarely gets a spotlight.
## Key takeaway

Props are not set dressing, they are storytelling, and the Property Masters Guild built an awards show to prove it.
