## A reunion at Busch
The Cardinals beat the White Sox to open the series with 30 members of the 2006 championship team watching from the stands.
## The 2006 core came back
Pujols, Yadier Molina, Scott Rolen, Jim Edmonds, Adam Wainwright and Chris Carpenter all turned up for the pregame ceremonies.
## The main event is today
It is Cardinals Hall of Fame induction day. Pujols and Molina were announced back in May and now collect the club's signature red jackets.

> the fans in St. Louis will have at least one more iconic memory with the franchise legends
## Drafted a year apart
St. Louis took Pujols in 1999 and Molina in 2000. Pujols debuted in 2001, Molina in 2004, and their careers ran in parallel from there.
## Three World Series together
They reached the Fall Classic three times as teammates, including the 105-win 2004 club that ended the franchise's wait since 1987.
## Swept, then twice champions
Boston swept them in 2004, but they came back to win two rings, the first in 2006 and the second in 2011.
## Friends first
The bond went past the field. They came up around the same time, played on the same great teams, and walked away together in 2022 after dragging the Cardinals back to October.

> Pujols and Molina are truly the best of friends
## Three years retired
The Cardinals require a three-year wait before induction. That clock ran out this year, which is why both names arrive on the same ballot.
## Cooperstown is next
Both are expected to go in on the first ballot within the next few years. Wainwright gets his own red jacket next year.

> this is just the first step for them to be immortalized in baseball history
## Key takeaway

Pujols and Molina shared almost every milestone of their careers, so sharing a Hall of Fame induction is the only way it could have ended.
