## Unsettled week ahead for Queensland
The Bureau of Meteorology says Queensland faces a week of unsettled weather with showers expected for most of the state and continued storm activity throughout.
## Record rainfall at three stations
October rainfall records fell at three central-west Queensland sites in the twenty-four hours to nine am Saturday. Tullinar Station near Blackall recorded one hundred and two millimetres, breaking an eighty-seven year record.
## Severe storms expected today
Senior meteorologist Steve Hadley said severe thunderstorm activity is expected around Winton, Longreach and Windorah this afternoon and evening, with potential for heavy rainfall and damaging wind gusts.

> We could see some heavy bursts of rainfall with that, and we could see some damaging wind gusts as well, so there will potentially be warnings.
## Coastal storms less intense
Storms are also possible along the coast from Cooktown to Mackay including Cairns and Townsville, but Mr Hadley said rainfall totals there are unlikely to be warning-worthy, with ten to thirty millimetres expected.
## Dry conditions return late October
The Bureau of Meteorology said dry conditions are expected to return to Queensland in late October before what is likely to be a warmer-than-average summer ahead.
## Key takeaway

Queensland faces a week of unsettled weather with showers expected statewide and severe storms possible in central and western regions after record rainfall at the weekend.
