## Crochet returns after five months
The Red Sox added star lefty Garrett Crochet to their American League Wild Card Series roster against the Yankees after a five-month absence.
## Crochet works out of bullpen
Crochet will pitch one or two innings from the bullpen due to limited time to rebuild his pitch count.
## Red Sox use 12 pitchers
The Red Sox selected 12 pitchers and 14 position players to account for Crochet’s uncertain pitching frequency in the series.
## Braiden Ward pinch runner
Without Crochet, the Red Sox would have chosen Braiden Ward with 61 stolen bases at Triple-A Worcester as a pinch-running specialist.
## Nate Eaton outfield defender
Nate Eaton provides a pinch-running option who is also a strong outfield defender, though not as fast as Braiden Ward.
## Seven lefties on staff
Crochet joins seven lefties on manager Chad Tracy’s 12-man pitching staff due to injuries to righty setup men Tyron Guerrero and Justin Slaten.
## Key takeaway

Red Sox add left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet to their 26-man Wild Card Series roster against Yankees after five-month absence.
