## Sebastian Stan's New Role
Sebastian Stan plays a conservative, bald homophobe in his new film Fjord, a legal drama opening in U.S. theaters on October 9.
## Film's Real-Life Inspiration
Fjord is inspired by a 2016 Romanian family case where four children were taken by norwegian child protection services after parents admitted to spanking.
## Mihai's Discipline
Mihai Gheorghiu, a religious romanian man, punishes his children with spankings after they accumulate too many points for being late or wrong.
## Child Protection Intervention
When a teacher overhears a brother claiming their mother punished their sister, child protection services take all five children from their home immediately.
## Mihai's Legal Defense
Mihai defends his religious beliefs by stating that traditional families are 'a man and a woman' and questioning if it's a crime to believe that.
## Fan Backlash
Bucky fans are upset that Stan plays a homophobic character who tells his daughter she'll go to hell for being lesbian, contrasting his MCU persona.
## Actor's Transformation
Stan undergoes a complete transformation, shaving his head, growing a beard, and adopting a quiet, controlled anger to play Mihai Gheorghiu.
## Key takeaway

Sebastian Stan plays a homophobic conservative in Fjord, a legal drama based on a real Norwegian family case, after his MCU role as Bucky.
