## Two episodes, one audition
Noah Reid guest stars in a pair of upcoming 'Sheriff Country' episodes built to work as a backdoor pilot for a spinoff in the same universe.
## CBS holds the decision
Nothing is greenlit yet. If CBS bites, Reid becomes a series regular on a medical drama sitting alongside 'Sheriff Country' and 'Fire Country'.
## Welcome to Edge Med
The show would follow healthcare workers in Edgewater, Calif., centered on Edgewater Memorial Hospital, nicknamed "Edge Med."
## Meet Dr. Hud Henshaw
Reid would play the chief of emergency medicine, written as charming and quick-witted but rough around the edges.

## Raised in Deadwater
Hud grew up in an outlaw stretch called Deadwater as the son of convicted felons, and refused the family's drug money to pay for medical school.

## Why Reid reads as a draw
He is best known as Patrick on 'Schitt's Creek', with later credits on Amazon's 'Outer Range' and AMC's 'Interview With the Vampire'.

> a passionate doctor who embodies his oath to 'first do no harm,' yet is not one to shy away from a good bar fight
## Key takeaway

CBS is testing a medical drama inside 'Sheriff Country' rather than ordering a pilot outright, with Noah Reid as the hook.
