## Sony RIALTO 65 Officially Announced
Sony's RIALTO 65 camera extension for VENICE 2 uses a 65mm sensor and arrives in early 2027.
## 65mm Sensor Specifications
The sensor measures 53.75 x 35.83mm with a 1.5:1 aspect ratio, about 2.2 times full frame area.
## 1.5:1 Aspect Ratio Advantage
Sony's taller 1.5:1 sensor suits anamorphic capture, framing for deliverables, and post-reframing.
## Two Readout Modes
9.6K 1.5:1 Open Gate uses full sensor, while 9.6K 2.20:1 suits lenses with 60mm image circles.
## Extension Mode Cable
The system includes a 4.5m cable with 12m option for Extension Mode, where the head connects via cable.
## Studio Mode Attachment
In Studio Mode, the head attaches directly to the body without cable for a single camera unit.
## 16-bit X-OCN Recording
The RIALTO 65 records 16-bit X-OCN internally with S-Log3, S-Gamut3, and CineAlta color science.
## No Native Lens Mount
The RIALTO 65 requires third-party lens adapters for 65mm optics and other mounts.
## ND Filter System
The system includes 11 drop-in ND filters with electronic contacts for automatic density reading.
## Price and Availability
The RIALTO 65, ND Kit, and 12m cable arrive in early 2027 with no announced prices.
## Key takeaway

Sony's RIALTO 65 extends VENICE 2 with a 65mm sensor for 9.6K Open Gate and 16-bit X-OCN, launching in early 2027.
