## Two new Pulse headsets arrive
Sony launched the PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge wireless headsets. Both feature planar magnetic drivers and PlayStation Link connectivity.
## Planar magnetic tech explained
These headsets use thin flat diaphragms between magnets. This design delivers lower distortions and cleaner bass than traditional drivers.
## Building on Audeze acquisition
Sony's first planar magnetic headset, the Pulse Elite, launched in 2024 after purchasing premium brand Audeze. That company pioneered the technology.
## PlayStation Link cuts latency
The connectivity delivers ultra-low latency audio and seamless switching between PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC and Mac. Bluetooth is also supported.
## Pulse Edge packs more power
The Edge has double the magnets for deeper bass, plus active noise cancellation and a detachable boom mic. Both models have AI-enhanced noise rejection.
## Pricing clues from existing models
The Pulse Elite currently sells for $149, while the Audeze Maxwell 2 PlayStation version costs $329. Expect the Edge to be pricier than the standard Pulse.
## Key takeaway

Sony's new Pulse headsets use planar magnetic drivers for cleaner sound and support both PlayStation Link and Bluetooth connections.
