## Spain's record dominance
Spain won five of the past ten major international tournaments and remain unbeaten in 38 consecutive matches since 2024.
## The three pillars
Spain's coaching culture relies on university education, Basque work ethic, and Barcelona's tactical revolution.
## University education
Spain introduced physical education in the 1990s, creating coaches with deep understanding of learning and training processes.
## Basque work ethic
Basque players emphasize discipline, resilience, and tactical compactness over flashy physical play.
## Barcelona's influence
Barcelona's La Masia academy produced eight players in Spain's 2010 World Cup squad and eight in the 2026 squad.
## Tactical revolution
Johan Cruyff pioneered total football, influencing Spain's possession-based play and decision-making.
## Basque players in action
Five Basque players feature in Spain's 2026 World Cup squad, including Mikel Merino and Nico Williams.
## Coaching education
Spanish universities trained coaches with deep football knowledge, unlike English institutions focused on fitness.
## Tactical impact
Spain's players make quick decisions under pressure, prioritizing possession and movement over physical dominance.
## Basque coaching influence
Basque coaches manage four of England's top clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool.
## Key takeaway

Spain's coaching culture combines university education, Basque work ethic, and Barcelona's tactical approach for sustained success.
