## Nominees get a rulebook
The Sun reports that celebrities walking into the Emmys are handed a set of restrictions most viewers never hear about. Glamour on camera, lockdown behind it.

> the nominated celebrities have to follow some preeeeeetty strict rules
## Backstage is off limits
Unless you're presenting or heading back to your seat after a win, you're not allowed behind the curtain. Wander into an unauthorized area and you risk being removed, or even arrested.
## Phones stay down
Audio and video recording of any kind is banned inside the room. If your costar wins, you wait for the official broadcast like everyone else at home.

> you're fresh out of luck and have to wait for the official broadcast
## No outside food or drink
Nothing comes in from outside, and that includes a flask tucked into a clutch. Whatever's served in the theater is what you get.
## No smoking, no vaping
The ban covers the inside of the theater and the area around it. There's no discreet corner to slip off to between categories.
## Leave and you're out
A strict no-reentry rule means the door swings one way. Step outside mid-show and your seat is gone for the night.

> once you walk into the Emmys, you can't walk out
## Key takeaway

The Emmys run on lockdown logic: stay in your seat, keep your phone down, and don't step outside.
