## Six hundred dollars off
The Nikon D850 is $1,996.95 at B&H, down from $2,596.95. That is 23 percent off a camera that normally sits firmly in pro territory.

## Best DSLR for megapixels
In Digital Camera World's DSLR guide, the D850 takes the megapixel crown. Its 45.7MP full-frame sensor delivers heavy detail and huge dynamic range.
## It shoots almost anything
Nature, landscapes, weddings, fashion, sports. The D850's performance is broad enough to handle nearly any shoot you point it at.

> it can easily handle nearly any shoot you throw at it
## The one real weakness
Live view relies on contrast-based autofocus, which is what keeps the D850 out of the top tier for 4K filmmaking. Stills shooters will barely notice.
## Speed costs extra
You get 6fps at full resolution with a 51-frame buffer of compressed 14-bit RAW. Hitting the full 9fps needs the MB-D18 grip and EN-EL18B battery, about $446.95 more.
## It still beats the 5D Mark IV
Canon's closest rival is solid, but the D850 wins on resolution, shooting speed and full-frame 4K video. At this price the gap gets harder to argue with.
## Key takeaway

At $1,996.95 the D850 is the cheapest route to a genuine pro-grade full-frame DSLR, as long as you don't need 4K autofocus in live view.
