## Apu Returns After Nine Years
The Simpsons brought back fan favorite Apu Nahasapeemapetilon on Sunday night's episode with Sunil Malhotra taking over for Hank Azaria.
## New Voice for Apu
Apu has been silent since the October 2017 episode 'The Serfsons' and Malhotra revealed he would only consider the role if he could meet with showrunner Matt Selman and co-executive producer Cesar Mazariegos.
## Malhotra's Perspective
Malhotra said he wanted to address past mistakes and reclaim Apu for South Asian kids who stopped watching the show.
## Future Apu Appearances
Selman confirmed both Apu and his wife Majula will be regularly heard from on the series after Malhotra's new voice was revealed.
## Key takeaway

The Simpsons has introduced Sunil Malhotra as Apu's new voice following a nine-year absence since 2017.
