## Tokyo police plan new AI system
Tokyo’s Metropolitan Police Department plans to introduce a new system that can reconstruct traffic accidents using artificial intelligence.
## System uses 3d spatial data
The system will combine ai with 3d spatial data from accident sites and footage from nearby security cameras.
## Reduces on-site inspections
The system reduces the need for lengthy on-site inspections, which require traffic restrictions and often cause congestion and economic losses.
## Test launch in june 2027
The MPD plans to test the new system from June 2027 and launch full-scale operations in January 2028.
## Current inspection process
Currently, fatal accidents and hit-and-run incidents are investigated through on-site inspections, in which vehicles are positioned as they were at the time of the crash.
## System enables simulations
It will also enable simulations from multiple perspectives, including overhead views of collisions and the viewpoints of drivers and pedestrians.
## Key takeaway

Tokyo police plan to launch an AI system in January 2028 to reconstruct traffic accidents using 3D spatial data and security camera footage.
